I (59 years old) took over my parents' house four years ago. One of my neighbors was a dedicated chicken breeder and regularly had at least 4–6 roosters every year.

These roosters, constantly and desperately fighting over their territory and their hens, ensured that starting at 4 a.m. and throughout the day, I had to endure the crowing of all the rival roosters at least two or three times an hour. I knew from past experience that there was nothing I could do about it. After all, my father had already tried in vain during his lifetime to reach an agreement with the neighbor.

The whole thing annoyed me immensely. I had just taken over my parents’ house, already carried out some renovations, and invested a lot of money.

My hands were tied. I often said I wanted to sell the house, because the situation had become unbearable for me. On many sunny days, it was no longer possible to spend time in the garden. I was beside myself with rage! After all, my father had lived here for many years before this insolent neighbor brought his chickens here without asking.

I fell ill and developed stomach pains and a large gallstone.

When it became most unbearable, I decided to take the bull by the horns. Ready to give up everything here, I plucked up my courage and spoke with my neighbors.

Surprisingly, I found a willing ear. They assured me they would remove all the chickens except for one rooster. A weight was lifted off my shoulders! From now on, only one rooster crows! And that was even romantic, so I didn’t think any more about it.

Exactly two weeks to the day after my conversation with the neighbor, everything suddenly went black before my eyes. I fainted! A friend who was with me at the time reported that I was “gone” for about two minutes and was shaking all over.

It was the epicrisis to my resolved territorial dispute, accompanied by a motor conflict (after all, my hands were tied, and running away wasn’t an option inside the house).

I also had stomach pains again. And on the day I fainted, my vision was extremely blurry. I probably didn’t want to look at it the whole time. But the worst part was the unbearable headaches I had for five days leading up to the epicrisis. Looking back, I would say that these were caused by fluid retention in the brain following the resolution of the conflict. Because apparently, I didn’t just have ONE SBS related to the rooster theme going on, but several.

Knowing about the 5bn helped me stay calm, even though my girlfriend called 911. Now I know it wasn’t a heart attack or stroke, and I don’t have to worry that it will happen again (unless I resolve something else)... and... now I even have a CT scan of my skull

It’s good that you mustered the courage to talk to your neighbor. The roosters were probably already getting on his nerves...
